|Matouš Zukal began playing the piano when he was seven, as a student of Prof. S. Vajnerová
at the Taussigova Primary School of the Arts in Prague 8. From 2007 he studied with
Prof. J. Němcová at the Prague Grammar and Music School, from which he graduated in
June 2017. This year, he graduated from the Prague Conservatory in the class of
Prof. I. Kahánek.
He has received a number of major prizes in piano competitions: Prague
Junior Note (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012), Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte (2011, 2013), the
Novák Piano Competition (2013, 2015), the Broumov Key (Broumovská klávesa – 2015)
and the Competitive Showcase of Conservatories and Music Grammar Schools (2016). In
2018 he made it to the final round of the competition ”Play with the Czech Philharmonic“. In
2011, 2013 and 2015 he was a prize winner at the Prague Conservatory Young Piano.
In 2016, 2018 and 2019 he attended master classes with Prof. J. Hlinka, L. Ove
Andsnes, A. Kouyoumdjian, M. Schirmer, M. Kasík, I. Klánský, and others. An avid chamber
musician, he currently plays in a piano trio coached by Prof. Milan Langer.
