Dominika Škrabalová Vocal
Dominika Škrabalová’s path to singing was not a direct one. She graduated from Masaryk University in Brno with a degree in journalism and international relations. Her studies took her to Czech Radio Ostrava, for which she did work as a news editor. Her lifelong association with the Permonik Choir brought her back to music, however. She decided to study voice performance at the University of Ostrava, Faculty of the Arts (Prof. E. Pappová). In addition, in 2016 she became the choirmaster of the Permonik Men’s Chamber Choir.

Her first public operatic performance took place in 2018 when she sang in the Magic Flute as an Operatic Studies student at the University of Ostrava, Faculty of the Arts. Later, together with other students, she appeared in a National Theatre of Moravsko-Silesia production of Janáček’s opera Destiny (Councillor‘s Wife). In the chamber facility of the same institution, Theatre “12”, she played Contralto in the Four-Note Opera by T. Johnson. She played Contratenor in the ballet “Les liaisons dangereuses” by the contemporary author A. Maskats. Subsequently, together with sopranist Patrície Smoľáková she mastered the song cycles “Little Apples of Těšín” by E. Dřízga, “Five Songs from Various Corners” by I. Szurmanová, and a number of other duets. She has performed several times with the Janáček Chamber Orchestra and the Janáček Conservatory Orchestra.
