After graduating from the Chotěboř Grammar School, Jakub began studying conducting
at the Pardubice Conservatory in the classes of Prof. J. Brych, T. Židek and J. Svejkovský.
Since 2016 he has been a student of the Academy of Performing Arts, Prague, where his
teachers are Prof. T. Koutník, J. Brych, and L. Svárovský.
In 2011-2013 he led the
Chotěboř Grammar School Choir, an ensemble that he himself founded, and in 2014 he
led the Orpheus Chamber Ensemble, Pardubice. From 2013 to September 2016 he was
second choirmaster of the Pardubice University Arts Ensemble. Since September 2014
he has been the choirmaster of ŽPS Donatio Artis Golčův Jeníkov and since September
2016 he has been the choirmaster of SPS Doubravan Chotěboř.
As choirmaster, his
vocal-instrumental repertoire includes such compositions as Stabat Mater by A. Dvořák,
Mozart‘s Requiem, and the Dream of Gerontius by E. Elgar. He is a regular guest
conductor of the Pardubice Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and other regional
ensembles (Pardubice Chamber Orchestra, Vox Humana Ensemble, Chotěboř Chamber
Orchestra, East Bohemia Student Orchestra, and others), and has also conducted
professional orchestras such as the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic (graduation
concert in June 2017).
He has won several awards, including 1st prize at the International
Conducting Competition in Žilina (Slovakia 2014), 2nd prize at the International Conducting
Competition in Banská Bystrica (Slovakia 2015), and 2nd prize in the Opava Cantat
composition competition (2015).
